Show Six: Josh Venable

Josh Venable

Ah, what an adventure (club) it’s been these past few days. We’ve had technical problems, scheduling problems and just plain problem problems that prevented this show from airing - but here it is!

In this episode, we speak with Josh Venable, host of KDGE’s Adventure Club program and a wizened font of pontification and opinion on the local music scene. Josh is a bit of a talker, too, so this podcast runs long at 1:12:49. But it’s worth it:

Take a moment to listen, won’t you?

Tearing it down,

Lindsay

  1. Skitty Lover Says:

    Hi, you!

I’m very glad you had Venable for a guest — not only because he has a really sexy radio voice, but also because that’s the kind of authority you need to make this thing work. So here are my thoughts, should you be interested:

    1. It’s funny hearing you and Jenkins dealing with songs–whether it be something put forward to you by Venable or Crain–that are obviously meant to be on the radio (I’m referencing Eniac right now), and obviously songs you don’t like. You guys are like, “Uh, yeah, that was a song.” It’s just funny to me.

    2. Jenkins is getting too much time to talk about the strange boys–i’d love to hear what josh might have said about the first strange boys song, and it never came.

    3. it’s cute that venable says he wants to stay home and see seinfeld. according to zac, what he wants to do is make out with his wife. but then, both you and jenkins kind of pick up on this.

    4. darlington? well, i’m glad someone loves it…

    5. of course i love the discussion about old 97’s.

    6. i am sooo laughing about the sara radle comment– i can’t remember if you know, but sara is anathema to josh. they went out for a year or so, and afterward, he apparently went to everyone and asked them to “chose sides.” mary always said she thought josh/zac wouldn’t speak to her because, once upon a time, she was in a band with radle.

    7. and thank you for mentioning fountains of wayne. nice work.

that’s about it! it’s a great dialogue, as usual. nice work. you should be proud…
